After winning his second Masters championship in three years, Scottie Scheffler forewarned his opponents that he has no intention of losing focus.

At Augusta National, Scheffler scored a final-round 68 to finish four strokes clear of Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg. He has now won three of his past four events and placed second in the other.

The world number one’s primary priority was to return home to his pregnant wife Meredith as soon as possible, but he still planned to continue vying for the biggest championships in the game.

“I’m coming home; I’ll be home as quick as I can,” Scheffler said when asked if he had a message for his wife.

“I wish I could soak this in a little bit more, but all I can think about is getting home. It’s a very, very special time for both of us.

“I can’t put into words what it means to win this tournament again and really can’t put into words what it’s going to be like to be a father for the first time.

“I definitely will enjoy the birth of my first child, and my priorities will change very soon, so golf will be fourth in line, but I still love competing.

“I don’t plan on taking my eye off the ball any time soon.”

Scheffler made a masterfully measured approach to the ninth to set up the second of three consecutive birdies, tying him for the lead with Collin Morikawa.

“I’m coming home. I’ll be home as quick as I can” – Scheffler’s message to his wife Meredith, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child.

Hardest hole

The 17th hole proved to be the most difficult of the week, with only one birdie, 19 bogeys, and three double bogeys, resulting in a 4.40 scoring average.

Easiest hole

It should come as no surprise that the par-five second hole produced a scoring average of 4.483 with four eagles, 27 birdies, and only four bogeys when played from a front tee.

When is the next major?

From May 16–19, the 106th US PGA Championship will be held at Valhalla Golf Club, the location of Rory McIlroy’s final major triumph of 2014.
